This is my third week on T3 second week on half a 25mcg tablet.Problem is Ive been feeling very anxious. The anxiety is constant and still can’t sleep either.wondering if I should reduce my levo? Any advice would be great!
I was on levo 100mcg one day then 112.5mcg the next.Reduced the 12.5mcg only when I first took the quarter of T3.Reduced the levo another 25mcg to 75mcg when I upped the T3 to half of a 25mcg tablet.I was initially on 125mcg of levo for around ten years
Thanks
Will

My gut instinct is that you’re going too fast. Have you got blood results? I doubt that you needed to reduce your Levo, I often see that it’s too low anyway or it’s ok but Dr’s insist on lowering it.
For me, I’d say, leave your Levo alone and add in the T3 at a lower dose, so 5mcg in the morning and 2.5 or 5mcg in the evening.
If you change your Levo, it might take 6wjs to adjust.
My FT4 was (if I recall correctly) 92% through the range and FT3 only 37% through range
Was advised to lower levo first as it was at the top of the range then introduce the T3 for a week then up it the second week.
Just feel constantly on the edge with anxiety.Feel all jittery and if my bodies pulsing.Tinnitus is going haywire in both ears. But then I felt like that previously but not as bad
Yes, I know that’s the usual advise and esp Endos are brutal at lowering Levo when introducing T3. I think we need to be more gentle, you were/are still converting so it is better to try and keep that as optimal as possible. I find it easier to think of Levo as a weekly number rather than daily. So if you were on 750per week before T3 (112.5 x 4 + 100 x 3), I’d have reduced that by only 50mcg per week (7mcg per day reduction). Then added 6.25mcg (a quarter of your 25mcg tablet). Always assessing how you feel, really tuning into your body. Some like me can added the full dose from day 1 but most have to really slowly edge up to what they need. It’s a shock to the system at first for some. So, you are where you are but not too far in. Honestly, I’d not take the T3 atm, I’d go back up to the 100mcg T4,lay off the T3 for a week and then add in 6.25mcg T3 per day, split that in two if you can (get a scalpel?). Hold, assess, add another 1/8th of the tab. You have to find the sweet spot. For you it might be, 6.25mcg per day or half or 3/4 🤷♀️
Levo is easier to get hold off/be prescribed, and better if our bodies convert when it needs to, not bam! Here’s your T3.
Ofcourse you may find you have to lower your Levo, but again, one or the other and leave enough time for your body to adjust and get blood tests done which will help you gauge if you’re on the right track.
If the dose of T3, the combination you’re on atm isn’t working, you don’t have to push on through. Get some sleep, let the anxiety calm and you’ll be able to think and feel clearer 🤗
I was a nervous wreck when my levothyroxine went up from 50 to 75 mcg . It took a couple of months to ease off properly. I feel great now. It takes ages to get used to it.
Hi, sorry that you feel that way. I will do as Nwas6 said a'and add some magnesium. With t3 when you start you might need magnesium to manage the anxiety. I went through this so I know how it feels. Just get some magnesium and you will feel better.
Hi, The anxiety and inability to sleep does sound like you're over somewhere, have you had any recent blood tests to see what's going on?I know we're all different but similar happens to me everytime I try too much T3.
I've settled for now on NDT plus a very small amount ( 5-10 mcg) of T3. Anymore than that and I get all those symptoms you describe!
