Being unwell can affects levels.
Some report that covid does affect levels. The severity of covid is varied for everyone and so are the reported affects on thyroid.
How often are you tested and has FT4 & FT3 been tested your last post only mentioned TSH which isn’t reliable.
FT4 & FT3 levels need to be monitored to adjust PTU to correct level. Once these are retested you can compare.
Do you have new or changing symptoms?
I’m on on low dose of carbimazole. I tested positive last month but had minor symptoms and don’t think if affected thyroid. Not due test until next month, then I’ll know for sure.
Thanks for your reply, my TSH, T3 and T4 were tested in August and were within normal limits as per my endocrinologist. Due to have them re checked next month.I’ve got a raging temperature, headache, severe muscle aches, loss of appetite and an ulcer on my tongue which I’m putting down to covid. My symptoms didn’t start till Monday.
I’ve also got endometriosis and adenomyosis which is not helping things either. I’m waiting for a call back from the on call GP
An ulcer under tongue can sometimes be a concerning sign when taking PTU. Especially when feeling unwell.
Usually this would prompt a full blood count (FBC blood test). I would discuss with your doctor urgently . Read through the patient information leaflet for PTU and have to hand as sometimes doctors aren’t aware of the connection.
Often medication is paused until white blood cells can be checked.
Have you a confirmed covid 19 positive result?
Always obtain actual result to track your own progress. Your results might only just be in range. Medics view hypo levels safer than hyper and often go by TSH alone.
Yes it’s confirmed covid, thank you for your advice will definitely have it to hand when I speak to them.
