Hi I was diagnosed hyper the end of September, have been prescribed propanalol & carbimazole and am starting to feel better in myself. I have a holiday booked for 3 weeks time and was just wondering if anyone had travelled with hyperthyroidism or needed permission from a Dr

Travelling
I'd be concerned about your insurance. If you don't declare your issues, they could refuse to pay up, evacuate you, or whatever. If you do declare, you might find some companies unwilling to provide cover and, likely always, an increase in premium.
If you had already purchased your insurance before your diagnosis, then you might find no change, but I suspect you still need to inform them.
Make sure you have enough medication in case you are delayed getting home
Also suggest you split where you put medication when travelling
Some with you at all times. Some in luggage
Hi!I always declared to my insurance company and never had a problem - or a massive spike in costs.
Very good advice about not carrying all your meds in one place... and don't make any changes to your dosage before you go or whilst your away.
A bit of advice for the future... if you get to the point when your consultant says it is time to reduce your carbimizole do it very slowly. Get a pill cutter and reduce your dose in small steps over a longer period of time than advised. I went through this several times my levels see-sawed; it was only when I did it a little bit at a time that it was successful. To give you some idea, before I stopped completely I was on a quarter of a 5mg tablet every other day. I have been in remission for over three years now.
Godd luck and enjoy your holiday.
I have travelled on holiday - my main advice is take more than enough medication - I didn't and had to delay my return and ran out!!
