Does any one know anything about this?

I haven't had a sense of smell for ages, (12+ months) it was believed to be through allergies but after reading an article online I am now wondering if it is in fact to do with my 150mcg dose of levothryoxine??

Can anyone offer any insights or information,?? I'd really appreciate it

I've had very little sense of smell and taste in about a decade as well. I've had hypo symptoms for 15+ years but only been medicated for 18months.

I've seen no improvement yet. I'm used to it now though.

I understand that zinc deficiency can cause loss of taste and smell. May be worth checking?

Yes I believe I had covid March 2020 before they did tests but my ENT doctor doesn't believe its linked . Thinks its allergies

Some people such as the actress Emma Sams still have loss of smell from Covid a year later

Well maybe .... although it's probably more like 18 months now 😓

I have no sense of smell but put mine down to having Radio Active Iodine. It affected all my mucosa.

My sense of smell has been deteriorating for the past five years or so. I put it down to age. I am 70. It might be linked to hypothyroidism as I have been under medicated for about the same length of time having moved house and surgery about that time. Now back on a sensible level of treatment, not noticed any improvement in sense of smell however.

My teenage son has always suffered extreme hay-fever and would have copious heavy noise bleeds several times a day. He lost his sense of smell 5 years ago. At the time he lost it (age 12) he had also been suffering hypothyroid symptoms for a couple of years. I can't be sure what caused it but his UAT was still undiagnosed/untreated so i can say it wasn't thyroxine in his case. Loss of sense of smell can also be attributed to low B12 which is something else my son has issues with. He now gets regular injections but some neurological symptoms of deficiency can become permanent if not treated early.
