I have been slowly increasing my levo (finally after many discussions and tests with endos and Gp) and recently went up to 100mcg. I am getting blood tests done to see what effect that has had on all my levels. I’m the meantime I am now suffering from tinnitus which I see can be related to thyroid dysfunction. I wonder whether I have just been under medicated so long that it has begun, or if it might be related to my increased dose. I also read somewhere that zinc might be helpful. Any ideas?! Thank you all.

Tinnitus just started

Was dose increased from 75mcg or up from 50mcg
Generally better to increase in 25mcg steps
Which brand of levothyroxine are you currently taking
Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription
Previous post shows you had low B12
Presumably you have been supplementing B12 and vitamin B complex since
Recommend getting FULL thyroid and vitamin testing done 6-8 weeks after any dose change or brand change in levothyroxine
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested.
Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially with autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto’s or Ord’s thyroiditis)
Low vitamin levels common as we get older too
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Is this how you do your tests?
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins
