I am trying to understand as much as I can about my condition and thanks to this forum so much info is starting to penetrate my lethargic brain.
I have frequently read here that with Hashi's the antibodies we have attack our thyroid. I was just wondering how frequent these attacks are? I'm guessing that it is probably different for everybody but are we talking days in between, weeks or months?
And with the pattern of the attacks at which point are we likely to feel most ill? During an attack?.....just after an attack?....or something else? I feel pretty rotten now all the time but I definitely have days where I feel less unwell or where my symptoms are less acute and just wondering if this is linked.

No the antibodies don't attack the thyroid. The autoimmune system attacks the thyroid. The antibodies come along after the attack to clean up the mess.
See! lethargic brain!! Thanks for the correction Lalatoot....I think somewhere in there I knew that. So, same question though but replacing antibodies with immune system.
Have you tried reading Be Your Own Thyroid Advocate by Rachel Hill? It’s a nice clear guide to Hashimoto’s written by a woman with Hashimoto’s (and it’s English so all the advice applies here). It’s a good straightforward read.
How long is a piece of string? I doubt anyone could answer those questions. And, more than likely, if varies from person to person. But, I've never seen any research done on it.
