Hashis swing?

I feel awful - again! But like, haven’t felt this way for about two years.

I was confused recently anyway as I’d been stable on my T3 dose for months and months. Felt great, no muscle weakness, loads of energy, brilliant.

I’ve been having some issues with hormonal peaks n troughs but this is definitely cyclical. Something I need to go and seek help with but on the whole I’ve been great.

A wee while back I felt off so my last bloods that I posted on here showed I was “over”. Odd as this would’ve been the case for months, so why the sudden symptoms. So I dropped back by 7.5mcg and the symptoms went. I then increased back by 2.5 then 5mcg as I felt tired, the muscle weakness was back etc. Anyway, now I feel really awful!!

By rights I should be 2.5mcg below what seemed like my ideal dose. Yet, I’m ill. Properly nauseous, crushing tiredness, dizzy, chest pain, eyes are bad, heavy legs etc etc.

I wouldn’t have expected to feel this off as a result of a slightly lower dose, this is more like I stopped taking my T3 altogether. I’ve sent off for another blood test but thought I’d ask…. Was it possibly a hashis swing that sent my levels over to begin with? Would you then expect this to be followed by a period of “low”?

Honest to god - it’s the disease that keeps on giving. Every time you think you’ve got it sussed (and it can be months) it goes off again.

It could potentially be down to my other hormones (ie an increase in oestrogen) but there would be no reason for this especially.

Sigh, any ideas? 😊

Murphysmum,

Oestrogens levels can raise through over production, inadequate progesterone, congested liver impairing excretion abilities, chronic stress, environmental toxins (xenoestrogens), etc.

Isabella Wentz says ‘Prolonged exposure to excessive oestrogen can lead to an increase in anti-TPO antibodies and anti-TG antibodies’. This is through the increase in TBG that binds too much thyroid hormone leaving too little available for use, and also by the effects elevated oestrogen has the immune system.

For a quick read scroll down to page entitled ‘How oestrogen dominance impacts Hashimoto’s’.

For a more in-depth read, this is Isabella Wentz's take on it.

Thank you for this.

Och, I know they can fluctuate, and I use pg cream to keep on top of an oestrogen dominance problem but this just seems… out of the blue? Like really quite bad when I wouldn’t really have expected it.

Thank you though, all knowledge is good so I’ll have a read!
