I am very sorry susiebow that you are feeling so unwell after your antibiodics.

I cannot answer your question but hope the culture will show up what has caused you to be so unwell and that they find out the reason why quickly.

As you are not an inpatient unless gp asks for it we wouldn’t routinely test for it. We would do normal food poisoning bacteria. Your gp can phone and add if he didn’t request it. Hope you feel better soon. X

Hi Susiebow , if you are in the UK unfortunately the stool sample test will not include c- diff , the GP needs to request this as an extra or add on ,, if he gets in quickly they may be able to add it on before it’s done , if not I’d defo ask for a C- diff test if you’ve been on antibiotics,, AFTER you’ve done the test you could also start on some probiotics - double up the dose ,, it can take a couple of weeks to see an improvement but you might improve before then and sometimes the stool sample test are 10 days ,so you may as well try to help yourself before then , I hope you start to feel better soon , ,C

I was on antibiotics for 2 weeks one lot after another for a water infection. That was 2 months ago and I’m still not recovered so I really feel for you and I hope your test results find something they can treat. I’m on high dose probiotics but still not right.

For those concerned with C diff or the possibility of it, you protect yourself better when eliminating sugars and fruits while battling it. Also, very important, there is a specific antibiotic that fights C diff. My sister had C diff, and when she was taking an antibiotic that was not designed to fight it, it came back almost immediately. She only got better after taking the correct antibiotic, but that she had to do by suggesting it to the doctor herself. High doses of soil-based probiotics work the best, and she took them each evening before bed even when on the antibiotic. Hope this helps.
