Wondered if I could tap into the collective experience here around timings of adrenal supplements, particularly adrenal glandulars ie. what times and intervals do folks take them at?
Background to the question - I’m due to retest my adrenal function shortly having taken a glandular steadily now for several months. Expecting to see some improvement in overall levels but finding that my day still feels a bit backwards, as in I’m still slow to get going in the mornings and energy levels seem to come up in the afternoon/evening. I usually take doses of glandular at 5-6am (400mg), 7-8am (400mg), 10-11am (200mg).
Would really love to know how others take theirs for some comparison and to see if there might be a way of improving what I’m doing.
Thanks!

Hi. I don’t think this will help much but I was advised by Dr P many years ago to take adrenal glandular and now that he’s retired I’m fumbling about not knowing what to do. I’m sure I remember him saying he still took it every day and he also told me to increase it on “stressy” days ie if there was something coming up I knew would be difficult. Other than that I’ve never really understood how it is supposed to work. I’ve also not been aware of any particular impact from taking/not taking it! I’m like you. Very slow to get going and more activity as the day goes on. I’m over 70 now and just accept it (and so relieved I no longer have to get up for work in the morning!)
I take mine specifically because my cortisol test showed that I’m low at most points in the day and that indicates stage one adrenal dysfunction. Hence the need to take a glandular to support my tired adrenals and I’ve definitely felt an improvement generally, just looking to refine it really.
I was under the impression that adrenal glandualrs are short acting so you take them and feel the effects within a couple of hours, hence generally not taking them after lunch so as not to cause high cortisol in the evening when it’s meant to be low. Wasn’t aware that it could be taken for a boost on more stressful days though so that’s useful to know!
Definitely shouldn’t be taken after lunch time or they can keep you awake at night! Just wish something would wake me up in the morning! Dr P used old fashioned tests to assess need. He took blood pressure sitting and then standing, a balance test and an ankle reflex test.
