Random Strange question about Black Poop/Iron Pills :-)

Hey guys

Sorry for the topic so early at breakfast time hehe but...

I managed to get the ferrous fumarate yesterday (capsules 305mg) and took one before I went to bed at 12pm. Just did my normal morning poop after taking thyroid meds which always kick starts this and it was pretty much all black. Nothing wrong with that but surely theoretically, it should have taken more than 7 hours to get through digestive system or does iron pills seep through quicker than your food??

Obviously I've been suffering fast heart rate/weight loss and other issues seemingly with my autonomic nervous system and have been questioning thyroid meds as make it worse so got me thinking. Although I presume very unlikely, does anyone else out there remember how long it took to come out so to speak as the last time I was on iron pills was too long ago for me to remember and wouldn't have taken a mental note of this at the time Just thought would pose this lovely question to all you wonderful people. No real digestive complaints or issues at the moment other than slightly on the messy side and feels like it's going through me a little fast although wasn't thinking that fast.

Hi. It’s not unusual. My daughter was astounded at the rapid time and gp had warned her. They can really mess with your stomach so keep a watch. I could never take due to severe slow guts.

I used to be on iron pills for years. Have you tried other types/forms? I can't stomach sulphate but never really had any issues with fumarate although these particular ones are full of E numbers unlike the prescribed ones I've had in the past!

I'm taking ferrous ascorbate and even my poop is black in colour 😂
