I woke up again three times last night suddenly as though being shaken awake. This time though I did not feel the tremor I normally have been getting. I just felt a little strange. I also felt like I might NOT wake up for a few seconds when waking. Sort of like I was on my way out but in the end I woke up. It is a strange question, but does anyone feel shaken awake and like they are on their way out before they actually wake up? It is very strange and terrifying yet it all seems benign in the end.

A strange question about night time symptoms
Something similar, not shaking but like something has scared me, happened to me ,for about a week.i took it as a side effect since my thyroid levels still not there.
I sometimes think I have heard someone ringing my doorbell which makes me wake up. I have actually got up just to check if someone is at the door at 2am in morning!
I wonder if it might be this
Hypnagogic jerks are the involuntary movements of the body that happen right when you're falling asleep. They're also sometimes called hypnic jerks. They can be small twitches of an arm or involve your entire body and make you feel like you're falling upon waking. ... You may have a heavy feeling in your chest.
Yes hypnic jerks I think it might be. However what is frighening is the feeling that I am on my way out first before I wake up. It must be something to do with REM perhaps? I have no idea why I don't just wake up.
It could be sleep paralysis.
Sleep paralysis is a feeling of being unable to move, either at the onset of sleep or upon awakening. The individual's senses and awareness are intact, but they may feel as if there is pressure on them, or as if they are choking. It may be accompanied by hallucinations and intense fear.
Lora7again Ah now that seems like what it might be. Thanks. Three times it happened last night. lol
I think this has been experienced by people through the ages because there is painting portraying someone experiencing it from years ago. I have had something similar where I thought there was something sitting in the corner of my bedroom waiting to pounce on me and I could not move. Luckily I haven't experienced that again because it was terrifying.
This is an interesting link.
It sounds just like it to me. As I just said I experienced it once and thought there was a thing (demon) in the corner of the bedroom waiting to pounce! 👹
The way his hair is looking at the moment I wouldn't be surprised lol. Last night I thought he was sleeping in the spare room because of my snoring and I got up to use the loo at 3am and suddenly I saw a shape coming up the stairs and let out a loud scream😱 thinking it was a burglar and it was him, he had fallen asleep on the sofa watching tv and was just coming up to bed. I don't know who was more scared him or me!🤣
Hidden I have experiened dreaming and not being able to wake up too. A long time ago. I felt like I was jittering for ages trying to break out of hell. Then suddenly my mind gradually snapped awake. It was horrible. This is similar but not quite so drawn out even if scary. I wonder what the biological basis is that causes it? Perhaps something to do with REM sleep?
I would go younger myself ... Richard Madden is more my type 😍 Just to add my husband looks more like Ken Barlow with long hair at the moment pmsl
