Does anyone change their levo dose twice a year for different seasons? I currently don’t but over the past 2 or 3 years, have noticed some symptoms worsen in summer so would be interested to know if anyone does.
Thanks

Dr Peatfield in his book 'Your Thyroid and how to keep it healthy' mentions the 'season factor'. 'Basically, the colder the external temperature is, the more heat the body needs to compensate, and therefore metabolism has to be increased - so more thyroid hormone has to be made' or extra provided. And the reverse in hot weather or hot climates.
He goes on to say that he has taught his patients to be prepared to increase their supplementation in winter and reduce it in summer. --- needs may vary. --- listen to your body and make adjustments accordingly.
I don't change my dose, but when the weather is really hot and I start to feel overdosed, I consider a very small decrease for a day or so, then back up again.
Hypofrog,
Yes, I medicate NDT so increase by 1/4 grain in winter (about 25mcgT4) as the cold saps my strength & energy making me feel tired & cold.
In summer I gain energy from the sun ☀️and life becomes slower, easier and more relaxed.
I was also a patient of Dr P who claimed the body has to work harder in winter as Anthea55 has already said. What symptoms do you suffer during the summer months?
Do you increase a 1/4 grain three times a week during the winter?
