Hello everyone. I haven’t had a drink in 4 years. I am gluten free. I bought a gluten free vodka yesterday, (Tito’s) in hopes that I could enjoy it without feeling bad afterwards. Does anyone here have an occasional drink and feel fine? If so, what do you drink, how much and how often?
I would love to have a drink!!: Hello everyone. I... - Thyroid UK
I would love to have a drink!!
I'm not gluten-free. As I've got older I've found that I drink less (and I'm very conscious of the "empty calories") but nonetheless I enjoy the occasional glass of white wine; a kir if I'm in France (ideally with peche rather than cassis); a nice cold cava or prosecco - and I'm afraid gin consumption has increased notably in lock-down
Alcohol doesn't make me feel bad, but I would get drunk a lot quicker than when I was younger, if I wasn't careful!
I'm a social drinker, and I do enjoy a large gin and tonic from time to time - or a glass of champagne/prosseco. I would say that adds to just four glasses maximum so far this year, because socialising has been at a minimum!
Distilled alcohols (vodka, whiskey) are gluten free, even if their original source was a gluten based grain. It's brewed things, like beer, that you need to be careful of.
I regularly enjoy a glass wine or cider or gluten free larger or gluten free beer
Found I couldn’t tolerate alcohol or tea, or chocolate when under medicated (for first 10 years when left on inadequate doses of levothyroxine )
Even having one drink makes me suffer a horrible hangover. It’s just poison not doing me any good at all, but there’s no fool like an old fool and about once a year I make myself ill with it....then vow to never do it again.
All wine, spirits and liqueurs are gluten free because of the way they're made and, according to Coeliac UK, can be included in a gluten free diet.
My evening glass of red wine is the only part of my diet that is gluten free!
