TSH level 0.3 Is this too low?

My level had gone from 3.5 down to 0.3 , with increased levo.

Is this too low. ?

Do you always get same brand of levothyroxine at each prescription

Most important results are ALWAYS Ft3 and Ft4, not TSH

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies

Ask GP to test vitamin levels

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Is this how you do your tests?

Yep, vits are all good. I do my own B12 injections, folate, vit D, iron and perfect. Yep have the same Levo.

Increased from 125 to 150 by endo in January.

Will order another medi check for T3 & 4.

I feel 🆗 to be fair! Just couldn’t believe it had come down to 0.3 from 3

I've been at 0.03 for years, doesn't cause me any issues and my GP is fine with it.

Mine is 0.01 on MMH private test, so the test done the same day at the GP will also be 0.01. When I ask the receptionist for my results they always say I have to wait until the GP has seen it. However, this time, as I haven’t asked for the result from the surgery, I don’t think any GP has bothered to look at it.

Guessed right. It was the Levo they were ringing about. Explained I functioned best with TSH at 0.01, I know T4 is over range but T3 is only just over mid way. Said I knew I wasn’t going to get T3, so we agreed to leave it but that I could have a B12 test next week

If you read both of these posts .. and follow the links in them to further posts discussing 'Risks' of LOW TSH.. and evidence.

These should help you have a much more useful chat with the Doctor should the subject of low TSH come up .. (it probably will, with TSH at 0.3)... basically it's all relative ... are the benefits to you re. quality of life /ability to function , worth the (alleged)'risks'

.... and once you've seen the evidence , do you even agree there is much of a 'risk' ...

I had TSH at around 0.05 for about 15 yrs and the only time i was actually overmedicated and felt better with a slight dose reduction was when TSH went as low as 0.018

Thank you so much. I love a good read! I find sometimes the gp has no real idea. My endo is good, but wants to focus on pcos far too much x

OP says her TSH is 0.3 not 0.03 so I see no reason to worry about it and would definitely resist any reduction in dose. Of course, FT3 and FT4 should be tested to make sure that over medication isn’t a problem. Mammaelf

Interested in this as mine has reduced from 3 to 0.1 so I’ve just posted a similar but lengthier post! I’ve ordered medichecks to give more info, I’m sure this will help.... I feel ok ish with a little more jitters and brain fog but carpal tunnel and liver function test has improved - libido and sleep unchanged still poor even with magnesium, I guess it’s one step at a time eh!

My TSH is 0.02 and has been for years BUT my actual thyroid hormones are in range. So yes check your ft3 and ft4 level and if they are in range I wouldn't worry about the TSH level.

My TSH has been undetectable for years ever since I started to take T3 as well as T4. I was told by one doctor that T3 would do this. My free T4 and T3 have always been in range though so they didn't worry about it until a year ago when my GP wrote to the endocrinologist about it and I had some pituitary tests done which were all normal as well. I feel well so they don't worry about it now but I have regular blood test checks.

Hi , yes it I'd definitely low. Once my doctor did to me to increase my dose to 100. I was hyperactive. Tsh with t4 have a negative impact on each other . One goes up , the other one goes down. Now your symptoms should be hypertension . They need to reduce your tablet. You have passed your range. Becareful , don't pit you on depression tablets, my gp was telling me tsh is not important, which is and it was a silly comment as he did not want to accept his mistakes and my symptoms was totally different I was out all the time, I could control myself no to spend money, full of anxiety and stress. Immediately I talked with other gp, he confirmed my dose is high and he reduce the dose slowly. Now I am on 62.5 micro and I am myself. Everything is okay .

Think your comments aren’t in line with usual advice on here. My tsh is under zero and I feel fine and that’s what’s important to me.

When on thyroxine only, I needed my TSH to be around 0.3-0.45 to function. My FT4 and FT3 were no where near the top of their ranges.Unfortunately, when we were ok many years ago, we didn’t have our levels checked, so we don’t actually know what our TSH was. For all we know we could have had a TSH of under 0.5 most of the time 🤷‍♀️
