I am in a bad way. For the past week, I've spent most of my time lying down and the rest of the time confused. The depression is starting to sink in now as well.
I know I messed up majorly and shouldn't mess with my meds, but I did and I am feeling as hypo as I have ever felt. I need some advise as to how to end these symptoms.
Here's what happened: two weeks ago, I misread some symptoms I was having and I believed I was feeling hyperthyroid. My regular dose of Armour is 150 mg.
May 20-21 I did not take any thyroid medicine: hyper- symptoms relieved
May 22-25, took reduced dose 90mg
May 26-27 regular dose 150 mg
May 27-28 180 mg
May 29 360 mg (caused a touch of diarrhea the next day but no other noticble symptoms)
May 30-today 180 mg
I can't deal with how I feel and I really just want to take a LOT more thyroid meds to get out of this funk. Can I just take double my dose until I start to get better? I just don't know what would happen then, will it come back and take revenge on me if I increase? do I need to just have patience and wait up to six week for my life to get back? Is this reasonable that I am feeling SO EXTREMETLY hypo after only 6 days of skipping or reducing my meds? I get so scared that something worse might be going on. Thank you.

You are not alone in mis-reading symptoms so stop blaming yourself. It happens..end of story. The body likes stable doses around similar times each day so I would stop altering doses. It is just muddying the waters and prolonging the disruption to your system..
I would go onto your regular dose at the times as previously and stick with it. There is no quick fix unfortunately. You just have to sit it out till things settle.
Personnally, as you've now got up to 180 mg, I would stick with that, not go back down to your last regular dose. Stick with it for six weeks and then get retested.
But, as Lalatoot says, stop blaming yourself. That doesn't help anything. These things happen. But, now, just give your body time to get over it. And whatever you do, don't double the dose! That would be the last thing you should do. Increases in NDT should be no more than 1/4 grain every two weeks.
Thank you, I like your reply and it gives me some comfort. I did go up to 180 last year when I was self-adjusting my meds and it seemed just a touch too high for me, but no lab test to confirm. Anyway, who knows this year? My numbers have never been at the top of the range, so planning to get tested in six weeks makes sense. My pills are 180 mg due to insurance. I am so thankful to have found this forum, you guys are so helpful and nice.
We get confused and do things we know are wrong, it happens, forgive your poor brain and body and give it a break. Go back to 150 and stay there for 6weeks no matter how you feel you must wait it out. Your body doesn't know if it's coming or going so you cannot trust it's reactions or trust symptoms. ((hugs))
Yes, my brain tells me one thing and my body is screaming another. I think the need for 1. maintaining a steady dose and 2. another round of blood tests in 6 weeks is standing out to me here. Thank you!
I know what it’s like to fluctuate between hyper and hypo symptoms & desperately want to take more medication to ease them. However, I’ve learned that my body can only tolerate small adjustments (increases or decreases). Rest assured that how you are feeling now will pass and that other members are here to support. Best wishes to you!
