Have you got copies of the tests they've done? If you have you should post them on here and ask for feedback.

You might find they have only ever tested you for TSH. If it's in range then getting Free T4 and Free T3 tested is not common. It means that, under the guidelines and rules that the NHS uses, people can never be diagnosed with central hypothyroidism, which is shocking but doctors are very blasé about it.

Can you post your test results, along with their reference ranges (ranges are essential as they vary from lab to lab) so that we may be able to help you.

We need to see

TSH

FT4

FT3

Thyroid antibodies

And also important are

Vit D

B12

Folate

Ferritin

Often doctors don’t test for full thyroid function & then say they are normal, because the element that is tested is “ in range”.

So what has been tested? & what are the results. Do you have access to actual copies either printed on via online access?

First thing is, do you have any actual blood test results? if not will need to get hold of copies.

You are legally entitled to printed copies of your blood test results and ranges.

The best way to get access to current and historic blood test results is to register for online access to your medical record and blood test results

UK GP practices are supposed to offer everyone online access for blood test results. Ring and ask if this is available and apply to do so if possible, if it is you may need "enhanced access" to see blood results.

In reality many GP surgeries do not have blood test results online yet

Alternatively ring receptionist and request printed copies of results. Allow couple of days and then go and pick up.

Important to see exactly what has been tested and equally important what hasn’t been tested yet

Far too often only TSH is tested

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies

Ask GP to test vitamin levels

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins

If your TSH is above 2.5 you have hypothyroidism. The NHS ranges are set too wide. I was informed this by my private only Endocrinologist. A healthy thyroid TSH is normally around 1.00. Check the TSH, T4 and T3 levels. Also vitamins are very important.
