An article in today’s newsletter. It’s American I think, but it may be of interest to some.
Some Thyroid Medication Recalled.: An article in... - Thyroid UK
Some Thyroid Medication Recalled.
yeah NP was recalled
Thanks Ellie -Louise there have already been several posts about this. Sone of the NP Thyroid batches have been recalled across the range of tablet strengths but not all. I think what has happened is the regulations re ndts have been tightened and the NDTs which do fluctuate a littel have fallen fowl of this causing big issues. Of course this is all to the advantage of big pharma and it synthetics production as people are forced to switch. Lol....
Recall of Certain Lots of NP Thyroid
It makes me very angry. Of course what is dismissed is all the people doing well with no issues who suddenly find their medicine recalled.
Do bear in mind that historically there were far more USA recalls of levothyroxine than desiccated thyroid.
Completely agree Alanna! Fed up with how ndt is being decimated. What also upsets me is that brands of levothyroxine and Liothyronine are also recalled and last I heard more frequently......yet ndt is being branded as unreliable. Ive been on it happily for about 15yrs. Found it much more even then the synthetics.
In my personal opinion, it doesn't help that some hypo sufferers in certain groups (not here thankfully) seem to become a bit radical about NDT brand potency and it's my personal opinion that it's not right to drive undue fear about a medicine (especially for new people trying to get their heads around having to go outside the conventional medical system) which is still helping a great many, such that the manufacturers feel no choice but to withdraw it altogether due to vigorous complaints. Also to unilaterally state that a certain med is useless, and warn people not to bother with it, when that same med is helping some.
In my opinion they think they are helping themselves but they are only helping big pharma. My opinion.
Ha.....I know......I tried to respond to a particular site several times but am ignored each time. Ive carried on taking Acella during all of this saga and have been fine. The first recall I talked to my local pharmacist in the uk who supplies me . She said it was such a miniscule difference that the nhs doesn't recall such meds and to carry on so I did. . Ive not spoken yet about this one but theres now a shortage as a consequence......lol.
I didn’t know about it already being posted about or I wouldn’t have. Because of time limitations I usually only read the email topics and as I had only seen it yesterday, I just thought it was very new news. 😕
Oh please don't worry about that Ellie-Louise! It is new news so you werent to know if you missed the other posts.......this site is very active and there are a lot of posts so would be easy to miss. Maybe it should've been pinned for a while. Ahhh it has been pinned if you look on the right side. Thanks Thyroid UK.
