Thanks for posting this Helvella. I've just been prescribed Levothyroxine oral solution for the first time and the pharmacy dispensed Creo.

I wonder which brand is best to request now that Creo is being discontinued.

Afraid I have no idea!

I have created, and try to maintain, a document containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and many in other countries.

The document includes the available UK levothyroxine oral solution ("liquid" levothyroxine) products.

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines.pdf

This document has information about the available thyroid hormones in the UK and, in less detail, around the world.

I take Levo Oral Solution and the last 3 times my Pharmacy as given me Zentiva. So it would seem that Zentiva acquiring Creo also means that they continue with the Levo production. (is my guess)

Zentiva's own website is completely unhelpful - but does not identify hormones/thyroid at all!

However, the EMC does now list Zentiva levothyroxine oral solutions - so hopefully you are right!

I'll update my document.

Thanks for your informative response.

I'm just hoping this sugar free, oral solution, Levothyroxine proves to be a better experience than taking Levothyroxine Sodium in tablet form. Recently, it felt as though I was being poisoned by Accord (previously Activis) Levothyroxine Sodium tablets. It was so concerning, I filed a yellow card report. Reading through Creo's Package Leaflet, it's the first time I've read any reference or acknowledgement of treatment for patients with Hashimoto's. I hope by switching, I'm edging towards better treatment.
