PTU GIVING LOW T4 and T3 IN RANGE

Hi. I don’t know the answer to this. It may seem stupid to ask. I have Graves and my T4 is under range at 5 range 10-22 and my T3 is 5.0 range 2.0-6.0. Does it matter where the T4 is or is it all about T3 being in range. I am on 200mg of PTU daily. Thank u

I think . from seeing load of results on here , that it's very individual as to whether it matters or not. Some people (when taking thyroid hormones, which i appreciate is different from your situation) say they only feel well when T4 and T3 are both at decent levels, but some seem fine with T4 below range as long as T3 is good. (these are usually on T3 only)

I suppose theoritically they could try you on 'block and replace' ...where antithyroid drugs are given alongside a balancing dose of Levothyroxine to bring T4 up and see if that helps how you feel, but i'm way out of my depth, and don't know if its advisable in your current situation :)

Hope you're still 'hanging in (down) there', sound's like you're still having a rough time .

Sending Best Wishes

x

X that's Not OK :) ...but if you're still not getting proper sleep, i'm not surprised.

They use sleep deprivation as a form of torture.. and it's very effective.

I remember when i couldn't sleep properly for several months, i'd have willingly chopped my arm off it i could swap it for just one night where i went to sleep and woke up refreshed to a new morning.

Hey there :

I think when levels are low the T4 does drop lower in order to preserve T3 at as higher level as it can, as a higher T3 level would take priority over a higher T4 level :

Doe that make sense ?

I would have thought adding in some T4 would be the next step :

Or dropping down your AT medication but not if antibodies are raging:

Any idea where your antibodies are in relation to when first diagnosed ?

Hi beautiful lady. It does make sense. No antibody testing since last year. No one is looking at antibodies.

Yes, sadly that seems to be the case :

You should be in the land of Nod - sleep hygene lady here !!!

Anyway apart from a full nights sleep - what do you want next regarding your treatment of Graves ?

Hospital does antibodies checking. GP won’t do that.

I know it's stupid - the laboratory work for both the doctor and endo :

and all them should be working with and for the patient's best interest and outcome :
