Advice please

Yesterday I was told that I have Atrial fibrillation and will need medication for it. A year ago I was ill with a virus which I think was COVID although never tested as I didn’t go to the doctor at the time. But when I saw my thyroid consultant he flagged up the irregular heartbeat and it is still with me. Is it because of the thyroid problems and will the two treatments co exist ok. Would love to hear from anyone with a similar experience. It seems that thyroid problems creep into so many other aspects of our health.

Have you had FULL thyroid and vitamin testing done recently to see if levels have changed since last test

Irregular heartbeat picked up in previous post

Suggest you reread all the replies

Did you find magnesium supplements helpful

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

Remember to stop taking any supplements that contain biotin a week before ALL blood tests

Thank you. I think the first thing to do is get all the blood tests done then we have a better picture. I do take the magnesium but not every day.will start to again more diligently. Will put the test results on the post as soon as I get them.

I was diagnosed with Atrial fibrillation over two years ago after an emergency admission to A & E. it was caused by high blood pressure and potentially other unknown health issues. Looking back now my thyroid levels were too low for me and I recently discovered my B12 and Vit D were low. I have suffered from ectopic beats in the past when my levels were low. I was put on a range of medications which made me feel very ill indeed. I have opted for the ‘Pill in the pocket’ meds which means that I only take them if i have an episode. Be aware that beta blockers do interfere with levothyroxine. I have found that I need my TSH to be under 1 and T4 and T3 to be in the upper range to prevent regular afib occurring.
