No Mercury Brand available ( can’t use Teva)

Hi,

I was hoping someone could recommend another Uk brand name that they use for Levothyroxine? My brand that I have been on for two years. No one seems to have 🥺.

I do not use the Teva brand due to the fillings. And I heard North Star is not great.

* I am one of those that likes to stick to same brand as I have found differences.

Any input would be much appreciated!

Thank you in advance

Accord

Aristo

Wockhardt

NorthStar is an own label supplier. Their 50 and 100 microgram levothyroxine is Accord. Their 25 microgram levothyroxine is Teva.

Almus levothyroxine is Accord.

Mercury Pharma is a brand owned by Advanz. Why not contact them to find out what is happening?

i got Mercury 50mcg's only 3 weeks ago dispensed from chemist in NW UK . they had them in stock , despite someone on here reporting their chemist had told them there was a problem with supply. I wouldn't believe report's of supply issuers unless you have spoken directly to the manufacturers.

We have seen stories about shortages so many times, the automatic reaction for many of us is not to believe them. They end up being a bit like some "fake news". Completely true for the person reporting but giving what is a wrong impression of reality! :-)

Hence my suggesting contacting the licence holder company.

Quite often, when people go back with the knowledge that the product is available, and even a phone number for the pharmacist to contact, the pharmacy suddenly finds some of the product. Either they find a packet they didn't know they had, or get a delivery.

This might be due to issues in distribution, especially if one distributor, in one area, supplies many of the pharmacies.

Occasionally, there really is a shortage!

It is, of course, sensible to ask here - not just reluctantly accept their word for it. :-)

No shortage of Mercury Pharma where I am (Norfolk.)

I get on best with Accord/Northstar but the pharmacy often ignores this and tries to foist Mercury (and Teva!) onto me.

I hope you find some soon.

x
