Could I still have low iron?

I haven’t yet returned to normal since my low iron diagnosis and iron infusion treatment in October. All my tests are coming back good or normal. My mean cell value is

86.7 [80-100]

Ferritin 276 [10-300]

As my MCV is low in the range, could this indicate that my red blood cells are still small?

I’m still breathless after exercise and my legs get very tired even after a short climb. Also my muscles are all sore when touched firmly and tend to ache a lot.

Hi Pastelart

So is that a recent result? I see from previous posts that after the iron infusion your ferritin levels went up to over 500 but soon started to drop?

I don’t think the MCV results are that low—low iron tends to result in an MCV much nearer or even below the lowest figure in the range.

But I certainly know how frustrating it is not to feel well and be unable to figure out why. I see your B12 is ok. What about Vit D? Had that tested recently?

Hi Jazzw, thanks for that. My vitamin D was 80, for which I was congratulated as being one of the few with an optimal level. However, as I’ve learned from this forum, it’s better at 100, so started supplementing a few weeks ago. Apart from that nothing is showing up except a TSH of 4.9. 😩
