I am a male in my 60's, suffering from sever and chronic fatigue, had thyroid test in December. GP said I have Hashimoto and was unhappy with low level of T3 at about 4.9, wants to get it up to 7 or more.
Was not on any medication. GP prescribed 20mcg T3 and 50mcg T4 daily. I have been taking them for more than 6 weeks, there has been no change in my level of fatigue.
Got retested this week with surprising results. My T3 level has not budged it's still 4.9, but my T4 and FT4 have both dropped about 20%.
Disappointing and inexplicable, does anyone have an idea what might be happening ?

This looks like a situation where you have some working thyroid left. Adding T4 and T3 will in this case be compensated somewhat by what remains of your thyroid shutting down. So the additions are nullified by the shutdown. You need enough medication to get your TSH into around 1-2. It's a matter of try and see to get into the state that satisfies you. First i'd try raising the T4 and keeping T3 as it is. This is the safest way to proceed, as adding more T3 can make you overshoot.
