Therefore, we call on all governments, doctors, and healthcare workers worldwide to immediately recommend and implement efforts appropriate to their adult populations to increase vitamin D, at least until the end of the pandemic.
Specifically to:
1. Recommend amounts from all sources sufficient to achieve 25(OH)D serum levels over 30ng/ml (75nmol/L), a widely endorsed minimum with evidence of reduced COVID-19 risk.
2. Recommend to adults vitamin D intake of 4000 IU (100mcg) daily (or at least 2000 IU) in the absence of testing. 4000 IU is widely regarded as safe.
I have just bought my top up Vit D3 supplements after reading the increased benefits of Vit D on the immune system in light of the Covid situ. Also, it's worth topping up (safe levels only), on all the immune boosting vits & minerals.
I agree MapleMoose. Dr Sarah Myhill always researches thoroughly and recommends high doses of vitamin C for prevention and at the first sign of infection.
The evidence for vitamin D and covid has been strong since near the start of the pandemic (I hold around 12 papers on it now). And the evidence for vitamin C is at least as strong, possible even stronger. We have written to our local MP re the latter and she said she'd raise with Hancock. I doubt he'll do much if the vaccine copes with all current covid strains which is blinkered and short terminism in the extreme. But one day, hopefully soon, authorities will wake up and realise that helping our bodies naturally to remove disease deserves at least as much support as seeking silver bullets with drugs.
Absolutely, userotc........I've written to my former MP, John Bercow, in the past re. T3 and vitamin B12 def. He wrote a long and very sympathetic reply and passed letters on to Jeremy Hunt, Health Secretary at the time, who wasn't helpful at all.
My local Tory MP is useless, so I won't be bothering, which is why it was refreshingly surprising to listen to David Davis, a trained scientist, prepared to go out on a limb and be passionate about the subject 🤗
When it's also apparent how many BAME nurses, carers and doctors are at even greater risk and have already died unnecessarily, the delay is truly shocking..........
The Chairman of the PAS spoke in the House of Lords on B12 deficiency a few years ago but there's been only slow progress with many prescribed tablets instead of the lifesaving injections they need.
