Do you have a thyroid condition? Are you on thyroid medication and optimally medicated?

If not maybe a forum dedicated to sleep issues might be better for you. There is one on HealthUnlocked here:

Get your vitamin D tested .....low vitamin D and insomnia often linked

Vitamin D NHS postal kit

vitamindtest.org.uk

Looking for vitamin D at least around 80nmol and around 100nmol maybe better

NHS Guidelines on dose vitamin D required

ouh.nhs.uk/osteoporosis/use...

What’s the dose of your vitamin D

Usually measured in “iu”

Extremely important to TEST vitamin D

Have you had vitamin D tested by GP or tested yourself

You can test Vit D with a private fingerprick blood spot test with an NHS lab which offers this test to the general public:

Hi,

I have a sleeping problem for the last 6 months. typically getting only 3-4 hours sleep.

I have been diagnosed with Hashimoto, and am on T3 and T4 prescribed by by doctor in Kildare. They are not working so far.

I started monitoring my temperature using the Broda Barns technique, and was interested to note recurring peaks in temperature. According to Dr. Rind's website this indicates an adrenal problem. So I got my cortisol tested.

Sure enough my cortisol level was twice the upper point of the range all day, and high enough at night making sleep nearly impossible, which explains why the sleeping aids I tried did not work, and also why the T3 and T4 are not working.

I have started to use a supplement aimed at reducing cortisol with some success. It is called PS (Phosphatidylserine ) and will give Holy Basil a try also.

A few notes. Cortisol is tricky and can crash from very high to low. Also temperature measurements are difficult I have written a separate post on how to make them.
