I am posting this link to the new GP 2020/21 contract again for people who are still being refused digital access to their online GP records in ENGLAND

england.nhs.uk/wp-content/u...

It clearly states your rights to access your records both prospective (future) and historic (past) in NHS ENGLAND

Annexe A page 53 under Digital is the relevant text.

If your practice is saying “it’s not available/not their policy” please reference this document with the Practice Manager as your right to access is clearly stated and a contractual obligation.

The only caveat is that access may be refused if it will cause HARM to you or others by divulging unknown sensitive/third party information. However individual documents can be made invisible by the Practice so the circumstances for refusal should be rare.

This is a continuing issue and may be made worse by the pressures Practices face with the pandemic. If this is an issue delay to access is acceptable with explanation but not refusal.

I hope that makes things easier/clearer for those still having problems

Sadly this contract DOES NOT COVER WALES, SCOTLAND OR NORTHERN IRELAND.

Perseverance is key.

NB If this document is useful please save it to your desktop/print relevant page as it keeps disappearing from the internet

Good link. Fortunately, I have had access to my records such as blood tests and summary patient record etc. Unfortunately, my practice are rubbish about doing the blood tests that I need so reduced like so many to private testing. Actually, am struggling to think of anything they offer me, nice folks but overall useless.

Do you know if you have to let 'your digital device scan your face' for the NHS App - because although I'm OK with passport/driving license I kind of draw the line at scanning my face?

No it is just an application form obtained from the GP surgery. You will need to show photo ID such as a passport or driving licence and proof of address when you return the form.

Thank you. The 1st time I used e-consult I thought it might save time in future if I set it up so that I could just use a password, but I got to scanning my face - and decided - no.
