Hi Team. Has anyone tried PTU? How did you go on it? Any side effects? Any tips? How long until your bloods normalised? Did you do a high or low dose? How long did you use this drug in total? Thank you.

I see you asked the same question about a month ago. Sorry that you haven’t had any other replies. I think it’s fair to say that there are more hypo than hyper thyroid patients posting here on the forum.

Have you tried using the search button?

Here are some results for PTU which may yield some answers for you: healthunlocked.com/search/p...

Are you on fb, in uk?. There is a fb group called graves uk. You might get a good few reply on there if you can’t find more help here. 😁

Hi. I’ve been on PTU now for 3 months. I have had no side effects. What is your story around Graves’ disease?

I don't know if I have graves yet, others seem to think I may have hashtimo instead. My endo is putting me on PTU next week. I'm worried about weight gain, have you gained weight?

Hi. I have not gained weight. Stayed the same. I do eat about 3,500 calories a day. I haven’t lost weight because I am hungry. If u eat sensibly you will be ok. That’s my experience. I find as the closer my blood gets to normal the less I eat. I have 3 positive antibodies out of the 4. Why do people think u have Hashimoto disease? Have your antibodies been tested

I'm not sure, if you go on my profile and click my latest post you can see the comments, what do you think?

You need antibody testing. For example I am positive for TPO, TSI and TrAb. My T4 was 109 range 10-22 at my worst and T3 was 48.5 range 2.0-6.0. I only show my levels as a clear example of overt Graves. I had a tremor, always HOT, increased appetite, constipation, heart palpitations. Your antibody testing is needed as well as your vitamins. Sorry I’m not more help to u
