I have hashimoto s. This started 2013. Around the same time as menopause. I have heard it could be related to Brest implant illness. I have 20 year old implants due to explant no replacement in January.
Has anyone else had this snd antibodies got less or disappeared after explant.
Thank you.

Hi Teag, that's very interesting I havnt heard that before. I also have implants that are 20 years old and was diagnosed with hashimotos a few months ago!I've read the articles that Slowdragon kindly put the link up, and its suggesting to not have them replaced. What advice have you had if you dont mind me asking?
Hi. I was so ill a year ago I just typed in breast implant and illness. And bingo I knew I had breast implant illness with majority of symptoms. I went to see my surgeon. He was getting more and more enquiries re bii and has started to the search it
So fast forward and I joined a uk Facebook breast implant illness support group. Thousands of women are suffering and having explant. A lot of them are having some kind of autoimmune disease. I was scheduled for enbloc removal in May but cancelled due to covid. I’m due January now including uplift It’s also important to remove the capsules as there is a risk but a rare risk of a type of cancer in the capsules surrounded the implant. Especially with textured implants.
Hi Teag, i was diagnosed with Hashimoto two years ago. My implants were 10 years old. I also read of the link and had my implants removed en bloc 18 months ago. The capsules were sent for analysis. They contained chronic inflammation and fibrosis. The operation took three hours to get everything out . My antibodies are now registering as ‘normal’. I also had antinuclear antibodies at the time. (Don’t know if i still have, has not been tested since). I Haven’t had a miraculous recovery since removal, as the damage to the thyroid is irreversible. I was devastated to be diagnosed with an autoimmune condition , and will never know if there was a link to my implants. My Mum passed away from idiopathic Fibrosis, which i only learnt recently, is also autoimmune, so maybe i had an inherited tendency. Implants most likely didn’t help. We live and learn. Best of luck.
Hi. Thank you for taking time to reply. I’m thinking they are due to come out so if I f do o feel any better it’s an added bonus. I hope you continue to improve. But like you say it could be hereditary. I did have a thyroid problem after I had my son. So maybe I was pre disposed too.
I have been ill since I had implants. Tiredness started soon after which ruined my education, career and life. My hair was thin and I could never lose weight but I was never diagnosed with a thyroid issue. Bii is now known to mimic thyroid conditions. I have been diagnosed and tested as having an underactive thyroid but drs say my extreme symptoms do not match readings which are not too bad. I was wrongly diagnosed as CFS and depression for years and was also diagnosed with PCOs. I have breathing problems so cannot explant at a high street clinic and am looking for someone to do it in a theatre. The NHS denies it exists and refuse to help, despite private Drs telling them to help as they actually put them in. This is a good starting point but there are many helpful facebook groups which you should join. Please make sure the surgeon will remove the capsule, I cancelled one who refused to do that. breastimplantillness.com/ex...
