Isn’t it awful !

Yep! Tinnitus is often caused by low ferritin/iron or B12 or magnesium.

My ferritin is in abnormal high range , B12 fine - Not sure about magnesium

I have all sorts of odd symptoms due to low thyroid. The random hissing and ringing in ears are a few.

I would suggest you ask GP to test both B12 and Vit D. Both very important. Some who have a very low B12 might have pernicious anaemia (another autoimmune condition).

TUK, had a consultant (died through an accident) who stated that people who had fibromyalgia recovered when prescribed T3.

Hi Dottie19, I am not sure if I had the same problem as yours but about 6 years ago I started having constant noice in my ears and couldn’t stay in quiet places because it was constant to the point that I couldn’t sleep. I mentioned it several times to different doctors no one could give me an answer or help. I had no choice but live with it, until one day I watched a video on YouTube where a doctor expletive that it was a muscular problem. I was sceptical but tried the exercise that he showed and OMG the noice went away! Mine was definitely caused ( that’s how I understand it ) by facial muscular tension. The exercises are very simple just stretching the low jaw down ( like when we yawn but with the mouth closed) and to the front. While doing it the noice will get worse but disappear straight after. I still get it sometimes but these help a lot. I also learned to relax my facial muscles before going to bed. I hope it will to you and others. Please ask your GP or physio about exercises if in any doubt.

Hi Dottie19

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and m.e when my first was born. He’s 25 now. I can say that levo helps but doesn’t get rid of it completely. I also have ringing in the ears which is high pitched and one incredibly itchy ear that I admit I can help but itch until I cause damage. I know that it’s stupid and I try not to but the relief when I do is fantastic 🙄. Itchy eyes too.

Lately I have been looking more at sjorens syndrome. I don’t know if anyone else has experience of this? It’s another auto immune condition that does seem to run alongside thyroid.

You poor girl to cope have to cope 25 years with small baby . My ears do not itch but the hissing is like the sound of a pressure cooker !

Awful .

I was better on ERFA but now can’t get it .

Thank you for your reply . Will take a look 🌸

Bless you! But you manage and he turned out ok 👍🏻 lol.

Interesting to note you were better on EFRA. Have you had your levels tested since switching? I can imagine it’s very frustrating to have such a shortage in supply with your usual medication. I haven’t tried it and am hoping a recent raise in levo means I don’t have to as it does seem loads of fellow sufferers have real problems obtaining either a prescription or the actual meds.

I think you just end up getting used to the noise to a certain amount. Not a reasonable thing to say. I know and I am sorry but the others comments may prove useful for you 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Hope you manage to feel better soon. x.
