Immune Anxiety Response

I'm becoming really frustrated with some strange symptoms I get from time to time. Please bear with me and if anyone out there gets anything similar, it would be a huge relief to hear from you.

Just before coming down with a virus, I experience an increased heart rate and anxiety. I was out walking in the fog a few days ago and felt breathless and anxious. Also I was a bit wheezy. Our walk took in woods/dead leaves=leaf mould. I've had tachycardia probably pollen related as it was high summer and near to a rape seed field. The doctor couldn't help but suggested anti histamines.

Just this morning, I had palpitations and breathlessness-my house is surrounded by trees and my bedroom window was open. It's settled down now.

I'm on Levothyroxine and all results back ok-I take supplements all recommended by the excellent admin team and subscribers. It seems to me to be some sort of immune response which triggers adrenals and causes these problems. Heat also causes palpitations and light headedness. Any anecdotes/advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm 64 and not on HRT-I read somewhere that low oestrogen inhibits the breakdown of histamine....so many factors it's hard to unravel it all.

Hoping to hear from someone soon, take care.

Moira

I suffer with some allergies myself and I do wonder if there is some connection with auto-immune diseases. Only yesterday I think I must have touched something and then rubbed my eye because it started to itch and became very watery and red. I washed it out with some cold water which helped and then I took a antihistamine tablet. I am half Irish and wonder if we are more sensitive to certain things.

Could be Lora! You never know. It's all very frustrating. I found out recently that oestrogen inhibits/breaks down the production of histamine so that would explain why, having never had problems with hay fever/pollen & histamine before menopause and now being over 60 and not on HRT might explain some of these symptoms. I'll try a herbal phyto-oestrogen and see how that goes.

Ha ha .. I do know some rude ones but I can't put them on here... I saw Frank Carson many years ago and he was very funny. ☘️😊

I experience an increased heart rate and anxiety.

I had palpitations and breathlessness

I've had tachycardia

All the above are symptoms I've had due to low iron and low ferritin (iron stores). Just being in range isn't enough for me - I have to have levels which are as close to optimal as I can get to eliminate my symptoms.

Thank you....I take iron supplements-and all the others recommended but am now looking at herbal Oestrogen tablets as a woman over 60 not on HRT I do wonder how much hormones play a part. So many women have reported problems with panic issues/anxiety post menopause there must be some connection. Take Care.

I think, maybe a lack of B vitamins can sometimes cause anxiety...I used to get palpitations & panic attacks & my GP prescribed beta blockers. If you are under a lot of stress, could be a reason, but also, if you are on thyroid meds, I wonder if that might also be a cause if the dose is too high?

Thank you ... I do take B supplements -and Marmite!- but not under stress. I'm only on 50mcg Levo as when they put me on 75mcg I had terrible issues with panic attacks/hypoglycaemia etc so came down to 50 again and this resolved the problem. I sometimes think as a woman not on HRT that hormones could play a part. Will start a phtooestrogen herbal supplement and see how that goes.

Good luck! I managed to get through without HRT... I try to avoid meds if possible... but sometimes you feel as though you are living half a life... like walking through treacle...
