I’ve been steady on 100mcg for years Jan 2020 my TSH came back 6.8 so my dose was increased to 125mcg Aug 2020 I got tested again as I felt really rough and they came back TSH 0.08 range 0.35-3.5. T4 13.8 range 7.5-21.1 and T3 3.4 range 3.8-6. GP couldn’t understand and said I was showing both symptoms of under and over active thyroid. By this time I had developed a goitre. GL referred me to endocrinology for advice who didn’t really do much. In the end as I was symptomatic GP increased my dose to alternate days 125mcg/150mcg. Recent blood test is now TSH 0.03 T4 15.5 and T3 3.9. After much talking with the GP again he called endocrinology and has been told I’m over medicated and now need to take 125mcg ever day and my T3 result is irrelevant??!! I feel awful I’ve put on 2 stone I’m cold and exhausted. Does this sound correct I’m not really sure what to do

Absolutely ESSENTIAL to test vitamin levels
Low Ft3 leads to low vitamin levels
Low vitamin levels leads to worse conversion
Exactly what vitamin supplements are you currently taking
Please add most recent vitamin results
Have you had coeliac blood test
Are you now on strictly gluten free diet?
Thank you for your reply. Vitamin levels bit d 70 range 50-120 ferritin 46 range 23-300 thyroid antibodies 23.5 range 0.34. Do I need to ask for more blood test? I’m not the GPs favourite patient at the moment. I take vitamin d daily spray I also take omega 3 Algae oil. Re coeliac blood test I completely forgot to ask for that one. I’ve tried to be gluten free it’s been hit and miss I’ve felt so poorly snd tired I’ve grabbed lunch from supermarkets for quickness. It I’ll give myself a slap snd start doing it properly from tmw.
You need to be eating a gluten heavy diet (at least once a day) for at least 6 weeks before a coeliac test so don't give it up yet if you're still planning to get the test done!
Surely it's clear you need some T3. I think Thyroid UK has a list of friendly Endicrinologists who will prescribe it.
How wrong is that diagnosis.
You are over medicated on Levothyroxine that’s why your TSH is low. Telling you to reduce Levothyroxine. What you need is T3 medication as your T3 is woefully low. You are probably a poor converter as your bloods prove this.
You can get this further proven by doing the DIO2 gene test.
I’m saying all this as this is also happened to me. I was on Levothyroxine for 11 years which I did struggle with over the years but never understood why, I do now. My GP also increased my Levothyroxine when suddenly my TSH was too high. It was my T3 that was too low but the GP didn’t check T3. After a number of weeks on the higher dose I collapsed and ended up in hospital for a week. My bloods were very similar to yours. They said no Endocrine issues!! To cut a long story short I went private after a long time with failed NHS diagnosis. In 2 private consultations I was diagnosed, prescribed T3 medication and oh boy what a transformation T3 has been for me. I then took the DIO2 gene test through Regenerus Laboratories which came back positive. I now get T3 on the NHS but I did have a bit of a fight with my NHS Endo before he gave in.
So, get the DIO2 gene test and see what that comes back as. If you need a private Endocrinologist then message me for his details. I wasted months and was in a terrible way and got nowhere with the NHS.
