Just recently had a blood work done on which I am waiting to hear back from my family doctor. I have been experiencing a range of symptoms both of hypothyroidism and vitamin d deficiency. I noticed my tsh level were 3.8 and vitamin d is 18 nmol/L. I haven’t had my blood work done in a long time, and although I have been having symptoms, I always suggested it was due to working out, stress, etc.
Now I’m wondering is my vitamin d deficiency because of hypothyroidism? Can it be linked?
I have no conditions or have never been medicated for an illness...
Thanks for the insight!

Low vitamins and minerals are often linked with low thyroid and Hashimotos. If only the TSH is tested then you also need the FT4 & FT3 tested along with anti-bodies TPO & Tg to rule out Hashimotos.
If your VitD is low then it is more than likely you will also have low B12 - Folate - Ferritin. Have they been tested ? VitD would be good around 100. You need to supplement - around 6000 iu's - maybe start with a lower dose to see how you go. Also co-factors Magnesium and VitK2-MK7 are important.
T3 is the most important thyroud hormone - it is ACTIVE and needed in every cell of the body. Very rarely tested in the NHS from which you can conclude very little is understood within medicine today about the thyroid.
So are you going to supplement VitD with its co-factors? Your GP will under prescribe and know little about co-factors ...
Haven’t yet talked with my family doctor, but will definitely ask about supplements. Most likely will do a follow up blood work too! Also my mch is low so not sure if that has anything valuable to say regarding my condition. But is it possible for the 2 to be linked?
