Hi, just wanted to know really what blood tests rule out thyroid problems? I think I’ve only had a basic test, thank you in advance

TSH, fT3 and fT4 can be very helpful in diagnosing thyroid disorders. Also, antibody tests TPO and TBG can indicate the thyroid may be under attack. Some patients seem to have hypothyroid symptoms with elevated antibodies even if their hormone levels are normal.
Ultimately no blood tests rule out thyroid problems. Some patients are hypothyroid with perfectly good hormone levels, due to other causes. It is almost impossible to get doctors to accept this, hypothyroidism ultimately can only be diagnosed and ruled out by a trial of thyroid hormone.
In short though, if you're looking for a good initial investigation I would recommend TSH, fT3, fT4 and TPO and TBG antibodies.
