Welcome to the forum
I think you need to give us a bit more detail .... roughly where are you geographically [you don't have to see the nearest person to you, but there's no point recommending an endo in Scotland if you're in Bristol, or whatever] ... and why do you want to see one?
You can get a list of private endos and of T3-friendly endos from Dionne at Thyroid UK - tukadmin@thyroiduk.org - but really we need to know more about you, your thyroid position etc to suggest anyone specific
I am in London and I have Hashimoto thyroid .
Ok so you're hypo. Do you have any recent blood results? Are you currently on thyroid meds? - if so what/how much? Have you checked key nutrients - ferritin, folate, vit D and B12? Are you unhappy with how your GP is treating you?
You need a GP referral for an NHS endo, and even then the endo isn't obliged to take you. You can go direct to a private endo - but it would still help to know why you want to see one to recommend one that fits the bill ...
I have done blood tests which show that it is Hashimoto thyroid but I have done them In Italy . I am looking for a private endocrinologist to get treatment as when I went to the gp to get tests done they said I have nothing and when I got to Italy they found Hashimoto thyroid and scleroderma.
I am unable to get treated there due to this situation with COVID-19
In which case, you need private blood testing first - you will see LOTS of posts here about private testing.
You want to test TSH, free T4, free T3, thyroid antibodies and the nutrients I mentioned before. SlowDragon is really helpful about the available testing and discounts available via the Thyroid UK site, so will hopefully pop along in a bit
Then, post the results if you want help in understanding them.
In the meantime, I will send you a PM about an endo in London I saw last year who was knowledgeable. No point seeing him (or anyone else) without up-to-date blood tests though
So are you on any levothyroxine ?
If so, which brand and what dose?
What vitamin supplements are you currently taking?
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially as you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies
Ask GP to test vitamin levels
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Is this how you do your tests?
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins
