North Star Levothyroxin 50mcg

I’ve taken Activis 2x 50mcg daily for a number of years with no problems. The pharmacist said that Accord had taken over and the drugs were the same, same packaging. But for the last 2 weeks I’ve had terrible panic attacks, sleepless, nights, no energy. I wasn’t coping. I’ve just noticed that I had been taking Northstar brand. Anyone else had similar side effects from this brand?

JacquelineH, NorthStar is the brand name of Lloyds Pharmacy. Llloyds don't make their own levo though, so the actual manufacturer will be another company.

Look on the side of both boxes, and you should find the manufacturer details. Also, check the PILs from inside the box to compare the ingredients. Is there anything different between the two?

And if you are experiencing side effects, you should consider filing a Yellow Card report. It is a simple process.

Always remember, you are letting them know what you experienced. You are not required to do anything other than state what happened to you. They combine all the Yellow Card reports and decide how to act. It is helpful to all of us for Yellow Card reports to be filed.

This is weird... the leaflets are the same. Both have Accord on the bottom. But one leaflet is out of the Accord pack and the other Northstar?

Can’t add the photo.

This is because Accord make Northstar levothyroxine 100mcg and 50mcg (but not 25mcg which is made by Teva) for Lloyds Pharmacy. They also makeAlmus for Boots. So Accord, Northstar 100mcg and 50mcg and Almus levothroxine are all the same. They all have Accord on the side of the box and they all have Accord on the Patient Information Leaflet and they all have Accord on the foil backing of the blister pack.

You are right - for the 50 and 100 microgram tablets - and it is the 50 microgram tablets that are being discussed.

But, to avoid any possible misunderstandings, the 25 microgram Northstar levothyroxine tablets are made by Teva.

Yes I know that but as you say was the 50 I was referring to as per op. But good to let others know 're the 25
