Blood test when best

Im due to have a blood test this week. My last dose of thyroxine was Saturday 50mcg (Monday to Friday 100mcg a day).? So should i do bloods on Monday morning or Tuesday morning ? ?

You leave a gap of 24 hours between your last dose and the blood test so I would not do it on Monday morning.

Depends if you want a dose increase or decrease in levothyroxine

It’s a very odd dosing regime

Last post suggests you may be under medicated

FT4 is 58% through range,

FT3 is 44.12% through range

I’m thinking I might need an increase...so if that’s the case, should I go Monday?

Someone suggested I could go 100mcg,50mcg on alternate days which would increase overall 12.5mcg a fortnight and that could make an improvement? A small tweak

Get bloods tested then consider changing to a more regular pattern.

Some people find it better to take exactly same dose everyday

I think you should re-read my reply, you have misinterpreted it.

You said:

and I replied:

You are taking 550mcg a week so that equates to 78.57mcg daily. If you want to even it out then you could take 100 and 50 on alternate days and take 1 extra 50mcg tablet on one day and over 2 weeks it would average out at exactly the same dose.

I also said:

I would say from your current results you may benefit from an increase in your Levo. An increase of just 12.5mcg may be enough. If you do increase then retest 6-8 weeks later.

So that would be 12.5mcg daily not 12.5mcg a fortnight.

If you do your test on Monday or Tuesday you are going to have a false low FT4 result.

Delay your test, go back on your Levo for a week so that when you do the test you will have the normal amount of circulating hormone. Then do you test 24 hours after your last dose of Levo. So I'd plan to test a week Monday or a week Tuesday. If a week Monday then do the test as early as possible, no later than 9am, take your last dose of Levo on Sunday morning 24 hours before the time you intend to do the test. If you do your test a week Tuesday then take your last dose of Levo on Monday morning.

Are you not changing to the routine I suggested to even out your dose of Levo, in that case you would be taking some on Sunday.

If this is a test at your GP surgery then it doesn't matter which day you do your test, but if you're doing a home test with one of our private labs then it must be in the post on a Tuesday or Wednesday at the very latest to ensure the sample gets to the lab in time and doesn't hang around over the weekend.

Im i Australia SeasideSusie. I will be going to blood collection rooms, the nurse will take the blood and send it to their lab in a matter of hours.
