Withdrawal

Hello Good People:

I’m on 100mg of synthroid. Recently, I cut my daily T3 from 21+21 mg daily to 7mg. This was due to the pandemic (I’ve had to ration pills) and encouraged by a TSH of .01. It’s been two weeks. I have minor fatigue and some sleeping disturbance, otherwise, seem to be ok.

Does anyone know how long withdrawal symptoms last? Afer this length of time, should I consider myself out of the wood? Can’t retest as I’m in a country other than my own.

My regards and wishes for good health!

What you are experiencing are not 'withdrawal' symptoms. They are symptoms of low FT3. Which one would expect with such a drastic reduction in dose. You only get withdrawal symptoms from drugs, and T3 is not a drug, it's a hormone. And, the symptoms will continue until you get your dose back up to where you need it, I'm afraid. Your body is not going to accept that brutal reduction lightly.
