Hi. Just update. I put a post up a couple a days ago, ref. to blue horizon blood test results. I have just had a conversation with gp over the high b12 being 1131, October last Yr. it was 1134. answer was it OK, mentioned about folate low at 7, that's ok, asked about increase in levo as my tsh 2.86 will not increase dosage, being told that I am older & must accept things as they are, hence housebound, YES I am fuming.

I'd be less worried about the B12 being a bit over range than the folate being low and the TSH being a bit high. Did you have FT3 and FT4 done as well?

Thank you for your reply. Yes had ft4 16.6 ( 12. 22)

Ft3 4.95 (3.1.6.8) antibodies OK. Ref. to folate I can purchase that myself had to in the past.

I am just annoyed with Dr. response of well your " older, I have to accept how things are," when a high dose in levo may help, I have been up most of the night with severe leg cramps even now my legs still ache.

I'd be annoyed at that too Harlech , even though I am. I won't accept that as an excuse when I know that it was the change of Goldshield Eltroxin to Mercury Pharma (generic) that caused the change in me. I hope you find an answer to the leg cramps.

Hi. SlowDragon, mentioned tropical magnesium something I didn't know about, so ordering some I then can apply that directly on the skin, hopefully better absorbed 🤞.

I was so angry this morning, when all I really wanted was an increase in the levo, as I have been on 25mg for 5months every other day & 5months 25mg & still am 😠. Yes I may be older but I am not stupid.

I was going to mention magnesium spray by BetterYou, but could not remember if it helped cramp or not. Love SlowDragon's answers. Magnesium is one of the co-factors for Vitamin D3, the other one being K2 MK7. You can also get a BetterYou oral spray for the Vitamin D3 with K2.

That’s dreadful. I’d ask him if he’s done his equality and diversity mandatory training!! Just because you are older doesn’t mean you should put up with second class healthcare

Write a letter to practice manager or phone and ask to speak to them. I resorted to that and suddenly things were sorted.

All the best.

Hi. I am still fuming. Blue horizon blood test results have been hand delivered to the surgery for the named Dr. who gave me the levo, I have highlighted their (B/H) Dr's comment saying ideally a tsh of around 1 so increase would be desirable.

I wonder If I heard from her, next will be a letter to the surgery manager, that will contain more information.

I would prefer to have an appointment, but due to covid19 they only allow app's. if its urgent at the moment, all other things is done via phone calls.

I’ve also been fobbed off with the age thing! Aren’t we allowed to be fit and healthy when we get older? Everything started to go pear shaped from one year, heathy in every way, to the next year, struggling 😩

Ref. to age thing I am still annoyed. I know that feeling it was the body coldness that hit me first total misery going out wrapped in layers of clothes, other people in tee shirts but the last 3 yrs for me as been dreadful I don't even know when I go to bed what sort of night I will have.

I have been up most of the night with severe leg cramps even now my legs still ache.

Cramp is usually caused by low levels of electrolytes. These are :

Sodium

Potassium

Chloride

Calcium

Magnesium

Phosphate

Bicarbonate

Source : healthline.com/nutrition/el...

If you get cramp, pour a glass of water and put in a level quarter teaspoon of each of the following :

salt (for sodium and chloride)

potassium (a good source is cream of tartar from the baking section of supermarkets)

magnesium (a good choice of magnesium is magnesium citrate powder which can be bought online - I buy on Ebay. It has a tendency to form lumps in water but just swallow the lumps.)

Note that you might only need the magnesium citrate, not the salt and/or the potassium. It's worth trying just the magnesium, and only trying the other things if the cramp doesn't start to go within five minutes.

The above concoction doesn't taste great but it isn't so disgusting that it is impossible to get down.

If there is any chance you have low calcium you could drink a small glass of milk - or find some other source of calcium.

...

Another possible cause of cramp is low iron. Please note there is a big difference between iron levels being in range and being optimal. Optimal is most definitely best. But since iron is poisonous in overdose it is essential to always test iron before supplementing.

I have ordered some tropical magnesium, hoping rubbing that directly on the skin it will work quickly. Presently only have Ferritin result 76.3. (13-150). Hand delivered to the surgery blue horizon blood tests results & included are ( B/H) Dr's comment ref. to tsh ideally to be around 1. That part I highlighted.
