Just another quick question on my blood test results last week. My autoimmunity levels were very bad (as you can see from the photo). The Thyroid Peroxide Antibodies were equally at the end of the scale.
The doctor's notes attached to the results said that this was normal because of having hypothyroidism, but she also said the rest of my results were okay too so now I am doubting it.
Are these levels normal for hypothyroidism? Or do they reinforce what Seaside Susie said that I need to up my dose of thyroid meds (which I've done, and added the recommended vitamins).
Thanks again for yet more advice! 🙂

No, they're not normal for everyone. and what exactly are you doubting?
Did the doctor's notes mention autoimmune thyroid disease or Hashimoto's in connection with your raised antibodies?
Even though Hashi's is the most common cause of hypothyroidism, there are plenty of us here with non-Hashi's hypothyroidism, me included. My TPO antibodies, tested quite a few times, tend to be around 6 to 11, and my Tg antibodies fairly similar.
Also, antibodies fluctuate so with another test they could be very different from the result of this test.
Or do they reinforce what Seaside Susie said that I need to up my dose of thyroid meds (which I've done, and added the recommended vitamins).
The suggestion to increase your dose of thyroid meds was nothing to do with your antibodies, it was based on your TSH, FT4 and FT3 results. I said:
Whatever you're taking you're getting very little thyroid hormone to have a below range FT4 and very low in range FT3. Also your TSH is too high for someone on any form of thyroid meds. In short, you are woefully undermedicated.
The doctor's notes are not worth having, they tend to follow the same thinking as any NHS doctor and are often just guided by TSH and pay no heed to FT4 and FT3 results. Many of us don't tick the box for doctor comments, you'll get a much better interpretation of your results by posting them on the forum.
"I'm pleased to report you have healthy levels of ferritin, vitamin B12 and vitamin D.
Your thyroid stimulating hormone is reassuringly normal, however your thyroxine level is slightly low. This might be a transient finding; if you are symptom free I recommend repeating this test in 3 months time to ensure this normalises. If you are having any symptoms of an underactive thyroid gland then I recommend discussing this further with your Endocrinologist or GP.
Your thyroid autoantibodies are positive which is what we would expect in someone with an autoimmune thyroid condition."
Yes, I won't bother getting the doctor's notes next time as they seemed to not be helpful at all. As you see, she seemed to say that all was generally fine.
