GRAVES DISEASE AND LOW HEMAGLOBIN

Hi

Can anyone help?

Blood test has shown low HEMAGLOBIN

Result 26 range (27-33)

Iron blood tests have been inconclusive. One test said new anaemia and the other said the iron was over the top of the range.

Any ideas what’s going on?

Thank you 😊

Low hemoglobin has been shown in studies to occur with graves disease.

I've never seen a range like that for haemoglobin.

You might find this report from the World Health Organisation, on anaemia and how it is defined, to be of interest :

The result you've posted looks more like a result for MCH - Mean Corpuscular (or Cell) Haemoglobin, not Haemoglobin itself. More info here :

Thank you for the links and knowledge. Yes I think you are right about MCH. Actual ferritin has been like and high. Kindest regards

If you've got results from an iron panel then you should post those too, whether they are in range or out of it.
