Hey Scrumbler. Thanks for your reply! Blimey. This is odd as I’ve had pains in my groin for some time. I wonder if this is linked. I’ll go and do some googling!! Thank you! 🙏🏻
Can I ask which lab you used? I am asking because I had a 24 h saliva test done by Genova last year, and my cortisol levels came back slightly elevated throughout the day (whereas DHEA was suppressed). The enclosed report suggested this was indicative of stage 1 of adrenal fatigue. After that, I have read extensively on adrenal fatigue, and this is what I have gathered: stage 1) slightly elevated throughout the 24 h period; stage 2) a mixture of high and low cortisol in a random pattern, although often lowish in the morning and highish at night so the opposite of what it´s supposed to look like and stage 3) lowish throughout the 24 h period.
It was also suggested to me that high cortisol had suppressed DHEA which is also the opposite of what you´ve been told.
From what I´ve read, you are more or less stage 3 (since your only in range cortisol result is low in range).
I hope others will chime in, because I find this very confusing...it´s the very opposite of my own results, yet I was also told I had stage 1 adrenal fatigue with slightly highish cortisol over a 24 h period...! Sorry, don´t mean to hijack your thread, but I find the differences fascinating.
Hey I used regenerus labs! I know zilch apart from what’s on this forum but seaside susie posted this link and I guess this is what you’re working off? rt3-adrenals.org/
Yes, plus what I´ve gathered from STTM and several functional doctors´websites. STTM says that cortisol levels upon wakening should literally be at top of range, so yours are far too low...
Can I ask which symptoms prompted you to order this test? Mine were unexplained weight gain, insulin resistance, suppressed progesterone and testosterone levels (private labs) along with estrogen levels that, according to an online calculator, suggested estrogen dominance, and the impression thyroid hormone replacement was all of a sudden not working properly...all which would be indicative of high cortisol.
You could start a new thread with your results as the guys on here are very knowledgeable and may have some insight if they can see the results with ranges. It will be out of date of course but still no harm at all
I don't know enough to say much except that in one of my bibles- Dr P's book - Your Thyroid and How To Keep It Healthy he talks of all this but to be honest by the time I got to this section I didn't have enough brain left to understand in detail.
However I did register the need to support the adrenals first and I started off doing this and still do supplement adrenal glandular on a daily basis.
RAI is picked up, to a smaller extent by other glands and organs within the body and since the adrenals support the thyroid, my thinking is mine were hit in the " fall out " .
Within about a month of taking adrenal support my long term lower backache eased and I was able to stand long enough to watch the kettle boil !!!!
Yes, I'm excited for you, and have started " Googling who I think you are seeing ? "
As for the sun, yes, it's here alright, as are the holiday makers.
I'm well, thank you, but the sun isn't any friend of mine anymore, since RAI and the UV light currently has me behind black out blinds and mowing my lawn at 9.00pm ??
Wishing you a successful appointment, as it's about time someone tried to put you back together again.
He has been recommended by a few people and didn’t think I’d get past the first hurdle (getting a referral letter) but it’s happening and I feel so hopeful!
It’s a bit too hot isn’t it lol. I love spring and getting the vitamin d and being nice and tanned but one it starts getting hot, I too, hide!
Could you please send me a message how you supported your adrenals and how much you took. I think I have adrenal problems, I also think that's how all started. I was dealing with a lot of stress and everything came along, Hashimoto's, vitamins and minerals deficiencies, severe insomnia, anxiety and depression. Thanks
Well the book I was referring to is I believe recommended on the Thyroid uk website and there are various adrenal gland products in the market place.
The one's I currently take are out of stock but I have tried various brands and they all seemed to be supportive, so I can't really recommend one brand over another - I don't think there's a quick fix as most of us have probably had these health issues building up over many years so it's very much a long term rebuild.
