Increased to two grains of armour medicine but my ft3 dropped from 3.1 to 2.9

I think we need a bit more detail to be able to suggest a reason:
How long were you on 2 grains before you tested?
What were you taking before?
Were this test and the last test done under exactly the same circumstances: same time of day, same gap between last dose of NDT and blood draw?
Do you have Hashi's?
I was taking 1 grain and 3/4 quarters of a grain
Then increased for 6 weeks to two grains
Yes same time
No hashi
Maybe needed to be on it longer
Well, 1/4 grain only contains 2.25 mcg T3, so you wouldn't expect much of an increase, anyway. And, could be that you're just absorbing more than usual at a cellular level - have you been more active lately? But, the difference is so slightly that it's nothing to worry about. You're bound to get variations at times.
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
If/when also on NDT make sure to take last third or half of daily dose 8-12 hours prior to test, even if this means adjusting time or splitting of dose day before test
Is this how you do your tests?
I take mine at 4:00 am
So I took my dose on Tuesday
No Wednesday dose that morning then tested at 10:00 am
Then took medicine
So that would of been almost 30 hours since last dose til testing
Did I do it wrong ?
No, that would be 0.5 grains. More or less.
1 grain contains 9 mcg T3.
9 divided by 2 is 4.5.
9 divided by 4 is 2.25.
No problem.
It would be nice if you can get a RT3 done at the same time you do the FT3/FT4..Both your FT3/FT4 are low. Your FT4 "could" be going to RT3. "IF" that's the case then we
would know your not converting. This would lead down the path of either a cortisol and/or iron issue?
Hey there Itileguy
Do you feel any different ?
NDT is more about the relief of symptoms rather than blood test numbers :
It's such a marginal difference, just a twelfth less than where you were :
If still with symptoms of hypothyroidism I'd just keep nudging up as you were doing monitoring temperature and blood pressure and see how you go increasing from 2 grains :
I have an appointment with a functional doc in a month so I’m hoping she will be more understanding with symptoms and dose
That's a long time to wait - why not nudge up a little and see how you go - you know your body better than anybody else and a bunch of numbers from the blood test report that aren't actually relevant when dosing with NDT.
As long as the T3 stays in range, you'll feel better when it's up near the top - mine comes in at just under or just over the top of the range - I feel no different and am not hyper but well.
