I experience pins and needles in my hands. Is this thyroid related? I recently reduced my dose of thyroxine and wondered if this was the cause.

Pins and Needles
After having your thyroid medication reduced how long has it been? I personally don’t think this has anything to do with your thyroid or medication reduction. Tingling in hands and feet (paresthesia) can mean different things, two of which could be low vitamin b12 and or small fiber neuropathy / sensory neuropathy. Have you had your b12 levels checked? If not recently I would recommend doing so.
How much levothyroxine were you taking and what were results
How much was dose reduced
Essential to regularly retest vitamin D folate ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common..... especially if dose of levothyroxine is reduced
Always get thyroid tests as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking any thing apart from water and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
Blood should be retested 6-8 weeks after any dose change or brand change in levothyroxine
What vitamin supplements are you currently taking
Is your B12 optimum? If not you should ask your GP to ensure you do not have Pernicious Anaemia.
I’ve been having that and I’ve put it down to low ferritin but that’s just a guess!
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is certainly a symptom of hypothyroidism, but the symptoms are not necessarily of pins and needles.
With me the "self-diagnosis" of CTS was to hold my hands above my head. If you have to put them back down again within a minute as they are hurting, then you should consult your GP to get a proper diagnosis and perhaps surgery to rectify.
Other than that I have no idea whether changes in medication is the cause.
Thank you everyone. That's helpful.
I get pins and needles in my feet during hypo so yes
