Hello everyone 😊last month my TSH level was 10 so my Endo told me to take 25 mg of Levothyroxine once a day, so this month I went in for blood work, and my TSH was 2.65, the Endo wanted me to continue with the Levothyroxine, but I reminded her if I took it I might go Graves, since I have both Hashimoto and Graves... well she told me to stop taking it, and come in next month for another TSH test... she said I will eventually end up being hypo, and will one day have to take Levothyroxine... I don’t know what to think of this now. Anybody know anything of what I’m going through? Thank you

Why do you think you have Graves’ disease and not Hashimoto’s?
Have you had TSI or Trab antibodies tested to confirm Graves’ disease?
Your results suggest Hashimoto’s (hypothyroidism)
Hashimoto’s frequently starts with temporary hyperthyroid results and symptoms or fluctuating levels
Hashimoto’s is confirmed by high a TPo or high TG thyroid antibodies
And/or ultrasound scan of thyroid
On levothyroxine the standard starter dose is 50mcg
Dose is increased slowly upwards until TSH is around one and most importantly Ft3 is at least half way through range and Ft4 likely a bit higher through range
Essential to regularly retest vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12. These are frequently very low with Hashimoto’s or Graves’ disease
TSH over 2 is likely still hypo and in need of 25mcg dose increase in levothyroxine
All thyroid blood tests should be done as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
On my doctors advice I started on levothyroxine 15 years ago, I was told I would need to take it for life. I do not like tablets but he said if I did not I would be very ill. My sister was also diagnosed with the same and refused tablets for a year. She was unwell for most of that time, then decided to take Levo. She improved straight away, I have no ill effects from levo. I take 125mg every day. I do have a blood test once a year, I have only ever seen my doctor. Never seen an endo. never asked for blood test results, I would not know what I was looking at.
