Hi, bit if a strange one but i was wondering if anyone/ anyones child has a fear of car journeys/vibrations of the engine? It causes lots of anxiety in my daughter, sometimes heart palpitations (she has been diagnosed with SVT too), feeling like she is going to be sick etc. Could this be hashimotos related? Thank you!

Vibrations related to hashimotos?
Sorry you haven’t had any replies
A few members have mentioned vibrations
I believe I had thyroid issues as a child, [although undiagnosed at that time] and I absolutely hated going in the car or on the bus. I would invariably vomit before my long suffering father had even moved the car. I would get in one side and out the other. The whole experience was a nightmare for me...no idea why. I have Hashimotos, and I still don't like it, but I have no idea if it's connected, so can't be of much help there. I have had some vit B deficiencies and electrolyte imbalances....you could look into mineral levels, magnesium, etc? Probably irrelevant...just a wild thought.
Thank you
Hi Dolphin40
Just to add to the comments.
My sister was exactly like this as a child ( I am going back quite some time here -she is now 58!). She used to ask for the windows open, say ‘I feel sick’ about 5- 10 minutes into the journey. Had to take travel sickness pills just for the shortest of journeys. Always anxious.
She was always restlesstoo and ‘on the go’ during her childhood years. Hyperactive and super sensitive . My father would say ‘ I am sure you have ants in your pants, Julie!’ Fast forward to her mid twenties when a goitre was discovered -had blood tests for thyroid and she was diagnosed with Graves Disease (hyperthyroidism) . She is still, even now, a little ‘on the edge’ at times.
I believe the early manifestations were already a sign that something was amiss.
Hoping you get to the bottom of what is causing your daughters anxieties. I do know that is a symptom of hyperthyroidism but that’s not to say this is what your daughter has.
Good luck and all the best.
Sue💐
My youngest daughter [22] who has just been found to have Hashimotos, has also suffered like me in this regard. When she got into a school that was a 10 mile bus ride away, we all thought she wouldn't be able to go. It was so stressful, but she managed it somehow. She tried everything from homeopathy and ear attachments to wristbands and self help books. We're a large family, so fortunately, for most of her time there she had older siblings and other family members with her, and of course a trusty 'no holes' carrier bag to vomit in😕
Sometimes she just couldn't handle it and would get the train, which she found slightly better, and then walk the remaining miles to school. Other times she would stay with friends who lived within walking distance. On more than one occasion she would pass out when getting off the bus, with her ears ringing. Like me, she still hates it, gets stressed and shaky, and vomits. She's not a neurotic or over sensitive type by any means, so something was going on. If anyone comes up with any ideas/solutions to this on this thread, could somebody please alert me, as I'd be very interested to know👍
