New Dosage, 16 days in

Hi Everyone,

This labwork was drawn 5/15/20 after 137mcg for 4 weeks. I ended up staying on 137mcg for another 3.5 weeks (I couldn't get results due to covid19 jamming up the labs and doctors), then was increased to 150mcg.

Today is my 16th day on 150mcg and I am absolutely feeling horrible. I started feeling bad on the 5th day. Now I'm extremely fatigued, anxious, and depressed (HR/BP normal). I thought I'd be getting better everyday but really I feel worse. I've had problems in the past with 150mcg being too much. I'm frightened I'm doing the wrong thing. I'm not feeling very hopeful right now.

Your opinions are greatly appreciated. 🙂

Is it normal to feel this horrible at this stage?

Maybe 150mcg is too much for me?

Thank you

Looking at previous posts of yours, this has happened before hasn’t it? Poor you, it can be really tough to find the right dosage sometimes.

I’m going to take a punt and say it’s unlikely to be too much—it’s actually more likely it’s still not enough. But when people have trouble raising their levothyroxine dose, it can be because there are other nutritional deficiencies that need rectifying. So for example, often people who’ve undermedicated for a while have iron deficiency, or are deficient in Vitamin B12, folate, Vitamin D —or all of these!

Has your doctor ever tested any of those?

Thank you for your response. I have experienced this before but I guess I expected the horrible "side effects" to let up by now. It's reassuring to know others have experienced the same.

He did check all of my vitamins, etc and all is OK. The only levels out of whack are the thyroid hormones.

Forgive me for double checking—but are your vitamin levels etc really ok? Or “ok according to your doctor”? Because alas, they can be very different things. Doctors tend to think that “in range” is fine.

But as we often say around here, “fine” is an opinion...

Do you have your ferritin, B12, folate and Vit D results to hand?

That's understandable for sure. I'm not sure if I can upload another picture, so I'll just type it out.

In Oct 2019:

Vit D was 85.5, range 30-100 (I take 10K iu's a day per my endo)

B12 was 1080, range 180-914 (I have PA so injection every other week per endo.)

Ferritin was 104, range 11-307

Iron 109, range 50-212

He checked my Folate when I was in the hospital but I can't find that. I do remember him telling me it was good. I pressed further and he told me it was right in the middle of the range.
