Hi everyone!

Can someone please look at my sister's results and let me know what you think? She's not felt well for a while.

Thank you

Tamzin

Slightly high TSH

Good T3

Extremely low T4

Under what conditions did she take the test?

Does she take any supplements containing biotin

(i take it she 's not already medicating?)

Hi! Thank you for this. She's been feeling very tired, brain fog but also currently suffering from kidney stones. As I don't have a thyroid, our dad has Grave disease, I recommended that she has a full blood test. I wonder why her T4 is so low and her T3 could easily go over the range too.

Thank you

For full Thyroid evaluation your sister needs TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common

Ask GP to test vitamin levels

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins

Hey there Tamzin

Can fully understand your concern over your sister's situation, having read your back story.

Obviously a full thyroid panel would make sense and you can get the Graves antibody blood test should this be at the back of your mind - though I don't know if it shows up, if the disease is dormant and not been " triggered " :

I hope you have managed to resolve your own issues even if it's meant self sourcing your T3 as many of us on here have been forced to do.
