Hi Mitchellrose54,

Congratulations on getting your readings within range for TCC! I’m on the same journey as you at the moment, but still trying to get my numbers within that range (TSH currently 12 😔). I was just wondering if you did anything apart from adjusting your meds to get them down?

X

Well done

Have you had vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin levels tested

No, my doctor will not do this. Do you have any advice on doing this privately?

How much levothyroxine are you currently taking

Essential to test Ft4 and Ft3

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins

Do you have the results of your T4 and T3? The TSH is a pituitary gland hormone and doesn't really give a good indication of thyroid function. However we are all different and my TSH is 0.38 at the moment and I feel very well. Good luck with TTC btw.
