Apperently giving up gluten and grains reduces good bacteria in your stomach by 50%. Doesnt sound healthy.

Maybe look at it in a different way. The gut is only one cell thick - so quite permeable. Gluten molecules can be sticky little devils and can adhere to the gut wall and cause inflammation - sometimes causing leaky gut. Once inflammation escapes - the immune system is alerted and produces anti-bodies. Gluten can permeate the blood/brain barrier - I think when I read that I was ready to give up gluten in case it caused more inflammation 🤔 Dr Datis Kharrazian - Why isn't my brain working ? His last book.

I had gut TB in my 20's - lots of surgery - then Crohns and more surgery followed. I went gluten free for several years which was easy as I lived in Greece. I feel I healed my gut in some way but still have sensitive moments when I weaken and enjoy a wrap !! I find dairy an issue but not goats yogurt/cheese ... I think avoiding all processed foods is helpful....

Many years ago I went to India for treatment where their Ayurvedic mantra was ... if it doesn't grow - don't eat it !

It's a huge book ! Something you can dip in and out of ! He first book - Why Isn't my Thyroid Working ... was another hit ...

He has a website so you can sign up for Newsletters.

Dr Tom O'Bryan is a good source of info on gluten and has hosted on-line seminars for many years. Professor Yeheudi Schoenfeld is an excellent guy from the US - an expert in auto-immunity.

Hi,

I'm not coeliac but definitely can't eat gluten. I end up similar to coeliac (I've had the tests and I'm not) where my gut stops working and I end up waking in the middle of the night with vomiting and diarrhea. I even accidentally took gluten twice a week over a ten week period and woke up sick. As it reminded me of my gluten sensitivity, I went looking and found the product I had been eating with gluten. I thought it was a milk drink - wrong.

I also found that after awhile the gluten free bread didn't agree with me. I've stopped buying it. Someone suggested it might be the yeast. Not sure.

It is always worthwhile to try and keep an eye on your body to see how it reacts. If there is a difference then you know that it's worthwhile. If not, then you know that too.
