Help with labs
Hi Lisflo, welcome to the forum.
I take it you don't have a diagnosis and aren't on any thyroid hormone replacement? In which case, your results tell us the following:
Your TSH is obviously in-range. But, is this the first thyroid test you've ever had? Be interesting to know if that TSH is creeping up, because it's on the edge of being highish. However, that, by itself, doesn't tell us anything.
The most important number is the FT3, because T3 is the active hormone. And yours is rather low. Which is probably why your TSH is nearly 2. Possibly that your thyroid is struggling a bit.
Your FT4, on the other hand, is almost top of the range. T4 is basically a storage hormone. So, what that tells us is that you don't convert very well.
Have you had your nutrients tested: vit D, vit B12, folate and ferritin? Sometimes, low levels of nutrients can negatively affect conversion. So, if you haven't had them done, that might be a good idea. If you have, post results and ranges on here, and let's have a look.
But, how do you feel? That's the most important thing.
Thanks so much I really appreciate the help. I feel just off dealing with joint pains pain in my fingers. Just not feeling at all like I'm used to.
Well, keep an eye on it, see how things develop.
Forgot to mention the antibodies. High antibodies are an indication of the autoimmune disease, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. Yours aren't high, but that doesn't automatically mean you don't have it because antibodies fluctuate. Next time, they could be higher/over-range. Also, there are two types of Hashi's antibodies, and you have only had one tested. The other one, Tg antibodies, could be high, meaning you have Hashi's. And, to make it even more complicated, not all people with Hashi's ever have high antibodies. So, it's difficult to prove you don't have it in the early stages. In the later stages, an ultrasound of the thyroid would pick it up.
Please i now on t3 only (cytomel) i am very well no constipation no heartburn no insomnia. But some friends tell me its danger for cardiac to take t3 only you must take it with t4 but t4 make problem to me because revrese t3 more and more what can ido
Ignore your friends. What makes you think they know anything about it? Lots of people on here take T3 only and have perfectly healthy hearts - me included. T3 is only dangerous for the heart if you take too much. Nothing to do with taking T4.
Having said that, T4 will only be converted to excess rT3 if you take too much. That is to say if your FT4 is very high in range, or over-range. You will always have some rT3 in your system, that's perfectly normal. But excess rT3 can be caused by many, many things apart from high T4. It would be a very good idea if you could start a new question of your own, giving all the details, and as many blood tests results as you have, with the ranges.
